Brikodar Mahto

The present investigation was carried out at Kawali village of Namkum block of Ranchi district during January 2013 to May 2013 with the help of questionnaires and interview among the selected farmers.

Different crops such as potato, tomato, cabbage, cauliflower, brinjal, and paddy etc. were cultivated by the selected farmers.

The benefit cost ratio for the  cauliflower was the highest  3.91 for technology adopted farmers as where as 1.72  for non technology adopted farmers of the same village because the modern farmers accepted the advantages of adopting improved varieties for those crops. Likewise selected technology adopted farmers of Kawali village extracted more profit by growing different crops than their respective non – technology counterparts. For example in the case of potato  the benefit cost ratio was the highest 2.96  for modern farmers where as it was only 1.82 for non technology adopted farmers of the village.

The lowest benefit cost ratio of 2.43 was recorded in paddy among the crop grown  by the selected technology adopted farmers as against only 1.31 for the non- technology adopted farmers from the same crop. The non- technology adopted farmers of the selected farmers was not getting more profit by growing different crops as compared to technology adopted farmers in almost all cases because the non- technology adopted farmers were reluctant to accept new technologies for cultivation of different crops.

The maximum net profit of  Rs 43355.89 per acre was recorded in potato grown by technology adopted farmers of village against only Rs. 10122,60 by the non- technology adopted farmers counterparts from the same crop. The net profit of tomato of Rs. 40082.79  per acre by technology adopted farmers as against only Rs. 8845.88 by the non- technology adopted farmers from the same crop.

The net profit of cabbage of Rs. 30063.00  per acre by technology adopted farmers as against only Rs. 6474.68 by the non- technology adopted farmers from the same crop.

The net profit of cauliflower of Rs. 38884.50  per acre by technology adopted farmers as against only Rs. 5754.25 by the non- technology adopted farmers from the same crop.

The net profit of brinjal of Rs. 33889.00  per acre by technology adopted farmers as against only Rs. 6219.25 by the non- technology adopted farmers from the same crop.

The net profit of paddy of Rs. 11609.00  per acre by technology adopted farmers as against only Rs. 1689.25 by the non- technology adopted farmers from the same crop.
